Having been raised in the Deep South, Kay was continually exposed to beautiful Southern design and style. Traveling and living abroad with her family during her high school years, her eye for good design was broadened and refined. Good design, in fact lives in her soul as Kay's great uncle is the late Robert Mills, the first native born American architect who designed the Washington Monument, the Treasury Building, and the Post Office Building in Washington, D.C. as well as a myriad of other buildings nationwide.

After a career in medical administration and time at home enjoying her children, Kay obtained her degree in Interior Design from The International Academy of Design and Technology in Tampa, FL. Returning to school in her forties, after graduation, she opened her practice in Safety Harbor, FL. to rave reviews. Kay is well known for helping her clients express their own unique style and personality through her designs.

Let's talk design style: Kay's style is best described as casually elegant; "comfortable, done well" as she refers to it. She has a delicious eye for color and frequently aids her clients in ridding themselves of their color phobia.

Comfortable, done well, living room.   Owning none of the ‘hoity toityness’ that designers can be known for, she is approachable, warm, and loves to collaborate with her clients and contractors to obtain the best possible outcomes for their project. When she disagrees with you, you might hear her say something like, “Let’s rethink that, why don’t we?”

Believing that all homes deserve great design, she has created a new design concept called Room Design to Go. “The interior design industry version of online dating.” she calls it. The premise allows the client to act as her design assistant by measuring and photographing the space; Kay’s team comes up with the design concept providing color scheme, furniture plan, shopping list for local or online purchase, or trade sources if requested; the whole kit is mailed to the client; again, acting as a design assistant, the client implements the design. The cost is substantially less than full service design and works from any location.

Beyond Kay’s interest in Residential Design, she has created projects as diverse as the design theme for Hospice’s Bella Venezia Gala to the design of the syndicated Daytime program’s set in conjunction with Ballard Designs; many corporate makeovers and everything in between. She is a member of ASID, IIDA and IDS. New to her practice are design seminars and videos for DIY interiors and décor. Her e-book, Decorate with Your Style will be available soon.

Kay lives at home in Tampa Bay with her husband, Michael and their two furry children Daisy and Zoe. They have two adult daughters and two new granddaughters, the joy of their lives. She is an avid reader, loves to travel, loves the Lord, and loves life.
